背鰭 (合計): 8; 臀鰭: 6. This species is distinguished by the following characters: snout with a distinct short and unilobed proboscis; small to medium-sized unicuspid acanthoid tubercles on transverse lobe 15-18; lateral-line scales 31-32; predorsal scales 9-10; circumpeduncular scales 16; two black spots, one at the upper angle of the gill opening and the other behind the median posterior margin of the opercle (Ref. 128962).
Occurs in the main river channel with sluggish water current on sandy substrate with large boulders and gravel. Associated species include: Cirrhinus reba, C. cirrhosus, Devario aequipinnatus, Amblypharyngodon mola, Chanda nama, Parambassis ranga, sp., Pethia sp. (Ref. 128962).
