Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 13-14; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 15 - 17; Ryggkotor: 35. Devario micronema differs from all its congeners by the combination of the following characters: body depth 29-30 %SL; snout length equal to or greater than eye diameter; anterior half of body consisting of 3-5 irregular, vertical bars; P stripe broader than P+1 and P-1 stripes; 14-17 predorsal scales; dorsal fin with 10-11 branched rays; anal fin with 12½-14½ branched rays; a prominent, square-shaped process on posterior edge of first infraorbital; presence of danionin notch; origin of dorsal fin to hypural distance, when carried forward, reaching to reaching posterior border of eye; pectoral fin, adpressed, just reaching origin of pelvic fin (Ref. 118056).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00891 (0.00371 - 0.02139), b=3.05 (2.85 - 3.25), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trofisk nivå (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resiliens (Ref. 120179):  Hög, lägsta populationsfördubblingstid mindre än 15 månader (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
