Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 2; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 27; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 17; Ryggkotor: 37. This species of the unspotted P. albipinna species group is distinguished by the following set of characters: long mental barbel, about 15-20% SL without terminal expansion (vs. short and blunt in P. immaculata, with terminal expansions in albipinna and dewitti); shallow head and slender trunk with a slight taper to caudal peduncle (vs. deeper heads and more abruptly tapered bodies for the 3 former species); middle lateral line pores 8-13 (vs. indistinct in albipinna, 12-29 with most 16-29 in immaculata and 17-19 in dewitti) ; divergence in mitochondrial ND2 gene between stewarti and immaculata not available from albipinna and dewitti (Ref. 84672).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00513 (0.00247 - 0.01065), b=3.13 (2.95 - 3.31), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trofisk nivå (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (20 of 100).
