Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Its natural habitat is described as mostly soft water backwaters in which there are no water plants although the banks are overgrown with Pistia or Eichornia. Branches extending below the surface and driftwood on the bottom serve as surfaces that the fish can scour for aufwuchs and this fish can actually scrape off some of the wood itself as an aid in digestion (Ref. 6868).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5010   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00347 (0.00159 - 0.00757), b=3.14 (2.96 - 3.32), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  2.0   ±0.00 se; based on food items.
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Basso, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione 4.5 - 14 anni (Fec = 100).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (17 of 100).
