Shaklee and Tamaru (1981) demonstrated that there are two Indo-Pacific species of the genus Albula, A. glossodonta Forsskål and A. neoguinaica (Valenciennes). Randall and Bauchot (MS) have shown that Albula argentia (Forster & Schneider) is an available earlier name for A. neoguinaica. We have examined three of the four specimens cited by Zama and Fujita (1977), and have determined them to be A. glossodonta.
