Shaklee and Tamaru (1981) demonstrated that there are two Indo-Pacific species of the genus Albula, A. glossodonta Forsskål and A. neoguinaica (Valenciennes). Randall and Bauchot (MS) have shown that Albula argentia (Forster & Schneider) is an available earlier name for A. neoguinaica. We have examined three of the four specimens cited by Zama and Fujita (1977), and have determined them to be A. glossodonta. MTUF 611, 298 mm SL; MTUF 612, 318 mm SL, MTUF, 613, 320 mm SL (Ref. 26066). Also Ref. 33390.
