Épines dorsales (Total): 7; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 8; Épines anales 1; Rayons mous anaux: 7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: complete cephalic sensory-pore system (pattern 1); 15 pectoral-fin rays, 9-14 are branched; dorsal/anal fin-ray formula, 8/7; short fifth pelvic-fin ray, 20% of 4th ray; with a dark occipital spot and a dark spot on preural centrum; orange (not dark) spots on pectoral-fin base 2, the upper one twice size of lower; first dorsal and anal fins are black; second dorsal fin dark (Ref. 111251).
