Teleostei (teleosts) > Siluriformes (Catfishes) > Schilbeidae (Schilbid catfishes)
Etymology: brevianalis: From the Latin "brevis" (short) and "anus" (here referring to the anal fin) because of the short anal fin and the low number of anal fin rays in the types of this species (Ref. 43912).

Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 1; Anal soft rays: 34 - 39. Diagnosis: small species, less than 100 mm long; eyes small, diameter not exceeding 23% of head length; inner margin of pectoral-fin spine weakly denticulate (Ref. 43912, 57127, 81643). Head rounded (Ref. 43912). Nasal barbels always extending beyond hind margin of eye (Ref. 57127, 81643) but not beyond anterior border of opercle (Ref. 43912). Adipose fin always present (Ref. 43912, 57127, 81643) and fully developed (Ref. 57127, 81643). 34-39 branched anal-fin rays and 6-8 gill rakers on lower limb of first gill arch (Ref. 57127, 81643). Colour pattern marbled (Ref. 43912, 57127, 81643). Barbels well developed (Ref. 81643). Posterior nostrils at same distance or closer to each other than the anterior pair (Ref. 43912, 81643).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00589 (0.00263 - 0.01321), b=3.02 (2.83 - 3.21), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.2   ±0.5 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Assuming fec > 10,000).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Unknown.
