Anal
soft rays: 4. This species is distinguished from all its congeners by having very short dorsal, pectoral and pelvic fins: dorsal-fin spine length approximately equal to the distance from the snout tip to the mid-length of interorbital distance, pectoral-fin spine not reaching to pelvic-fin insertion; and pelvic-fin spine not or just reaching to anal-fin origin (vs. dorsal-fin spine length varying from equal to head length in most species to similar to predorsal length, pectoral-fin spine surpassing insertion of pelvic spine, and pelvic-fin spine surpassing origin of anal fin) (Ref. 124776).
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Collected at the depth of approximately 30 meters over rocky bottom in areas with slow water flow (Ref. 124776).

Estimates based on models
Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref.

50 = No PD50 data [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01023 (0.00450 - 0.02327), b=3.04 (2.84 - 3.24), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref.

Resilience (Ref.
120179): High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref.
