Africa: lower Congo, Kasai, Kwango, Dja, Aruwimi, Wagenia Falls, Lualaba and upper Lualaba in Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Congo and Angola (Ref. 11970, 12818, 87986, 106245, 106290). Also in the Rungumba River (Lake Tanganyika affluent) in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 12818). Probably absent from West-Central and West Africa, where Chiloglanis batesii is found; reports of the latter from the Congo basin probably refer to Chiloglanis micropogon.

Maturity: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm
Max length : 4.9 cm TL male/unsexed; (Ref. 80298)

Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7. Chiloglanis micropogon can be distinguished from C. batesii by the presence of a distinctive pair of papillae on the roof of the oral cavity, a greater number of dentary teeth, relatively blunt tipped teeth, and a relatively continuous ridge of soft tissue directly posterior to dentary teeth (Ref. 87986).
