Maximum length is 7.0 cm TL (Ref. 36377). Aquarium keeping: several females for one male; minimum aquarium size 60 cm (Ref. 51539). The eggs are attached to the ceiling of caves, female cares for eggs and larvae (Ref. 47893).

Produces 60-120 eggs. The eggs are attached to the ceiling of caves, female cares for eggs and larvae (Ref. 47893). Like other Apistogramma, this species may participate in harem spawning where the male services more than one female in his secret spawning site which may either be a cave or thick vegetation (Ref. 12251).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01950 (0.00838 - 0.04534), b=2.99 (2.81 - 3.17), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  Medium, minimum population doubling time 1.4 - 4.4 years (Fec=60-120).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
Price category (Ref. 80766):   Unknown.
