Fish affected:    
Symptoms: Clinical signs include anorexia, emaciation, nervous disorders, abdominal swelling, body deformation, unilateral or bilateral exophthalmos, inflamed cornea of the eye (keratitis), colour changes, and skin ulcers. Also Ref. 045600. White nodules appear in all visceral organ (Ref. 045600)  
Treatments: Antibiotic treatment added in the water can have positive results for cultured freshwater ornamental fish. Removed all infected fish and have a complete disinfection of the tank.  
Prophylaxis: Removed all infected fish and have a complete disinfection of the tank. Avoiding untreated marine product as feeds for cultured fish (Ref. 045600).  
Remarks: Mycobacteria causing fish tuberculosis is transmissible to human. Infection occurs at the hands and forearms, and can be contracted through handling of tanks with infected fish and exposure of cuteneous cuts or wounds. Prevention should include protection and disinfection of wounds.
