Type locality Atol das Rocas, off Ilha do Farol, 3°51'20"S, 33°49'13"W, 9.1-10.7 m, MZUSP 38893 (holotype of Priolepis dawsoni, 2.34 SL, male) (Ref. 39609). Known from the northeastern Brazilian coast of Salvador, Bahia and the oceanic islands of Fernando de Noronha and Atol das Rocas (Ref. 39606, 39609). Also Ref. 57756, 126840.
