Occurs throughout mainland Alaska from the Taku River near Juneau, north to the Arctic coast (Ref. 27547). Incidentally taken in the brackish nearshore waters of the Alaskan Beaufort Sea (Ref. 28503). Fairly abundant wherever it is present (Ref. 27547). Occasionally smoked in strips and sold as 'squaw candy' (Ref. 27547). Also Ref. 1998, 5723, 6876, 10280, 11366, 119194.
