Recorded from northern Western Australia to the Gulf of Carpentaria drainage. Also collected in relatively few river systems including the Ord, Victoria, Daly, Katherine and upper Gregory. Locally abundant in lacustrine habitats such as Lake Kununurra (Western Australia) (Ref. 44894). Also Ref. 7300.
