Widespread in the tributaries of Gandaki, Koshi and Karnali, preferring rocky pools of rhithron streams (Ref. 57735). Used in folk medicine and as ornamental fish by Buddhists (Ref. 12045). Also Ref. 40948.

Status of Threat: Data deficient pristine rare ornamental species (Ref. 85009).
