Found in the Iberian Peninsula (Ref. 119049). Known from the river basins of Turia and Mijares in eastern Spain (Ref. 27763). Threatened due to habitat destruction, pollution, and introductions of exotic predators. Fishery 1989: species subject to commercial fishing (Ref. 79582). Minimum capture size: 8 cm TL (Ref. 119049).

Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 59043, 119049).
