Type localities: Boco River (eastern Samar, Visayas), and Calbigan, Samar and Quingoa River (Bulacan, Luzon), ZMB 5110 (syntypes of Hemirhamphus philippinus<>); Magat River and tributary creeks at Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya Province, Luzon, SU 25509 (holotype of Zenarchopterus magatensis); Pinacanauan River, Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Luzon, whereabouts unknown (syntypes of Zenarchopterus cagayensis) (Ref. 94476, 94891). Known from streams and lakes: Quingoa River, Bulacan; Bicol R., Camarines Sur; Molawin Creek, Banay River, Sta. Maria R., and Laguna de Bay, Laguna; Lake Bombon, Batangas; Olo creek, Pangasinan (Ref. 280). Also reported from Tarlac from CAS collections (https://www.gbif.org/occurrence/473242389).
