Comments |
Ciguatera fish poisoning was reported in reef fish caught off Nauru, taken from interviews and examination of medical records (18 cases in 1990 and 21 in 1991). The name of the consumed fish was mentioned in some cases but no records reported showed where the ciguatera infected fish was caught. This species was mentioned as toxic, together with Ctenochaetus striatus, Epinephelus merra, Epinephelus microdon, Epinephelus melanostigma, Cephalopholis argus, Lutjanus bohar. Fishermen identified Anibare, Anetan and Anabar reefs as containing toxic fish (Ref. 125620). |
