Known from northern Namibia southward (Ref. 3200). Caught with bottom trawls (Ref. 36731). Was previously an important commercial species, but it was heavily overfished and catches now only amount to a few hundred tonnes a year (Ref. 36731). Specimens held at the MFMR.
