Known from Georges Bank off New England, south to off the Florida Peninsula, through the Straits of Florida, and along the coast of northern Gulf of Mexico. Museum: ca. 90 mi south of Montauk Point, Long I., New York, MCZ 95955 (holotype of F. goodenbeani, 17.54 cm SL, male) (Ref. 31053). Also Ref. 75992.
