Ranges from Natal to Cape Point. Common off Natal, reaches the Cape coast during the summer. Status of stock sound (Ref. 4332). Caught in the Natal shark nets. A fighting game fish which makes good eating (Ref. 12484). Angling record 129.5 kg; spearfishing record 27 kg (Ref. 12484). Also Ref. 244, 5485.
