Comments: Type locality of the neotype of Liza bandialensis: 'the region of Foundiougne village, Saloum channel, Sine Saloum estuary, Senegal' (Ref. 89987). Known from the Sine-Saloum estuary, where only large specimens have been observed (Ref. 89987). Local fishermen in the region of the Bandiala channel reported in 1993 that the species was not common and appeared seasonally, usually in the early part of the year around February (Ref. 89987). Etymology: Chelon: Greek, chelone = turtle (Ref. 45335);  bandialensis: The epithet bandialensis indicates the species is from the Bandiala channel, the main arm of the Sine Saloum estuary in Senegal where the species was first collected (Ref. 89987).
