Type locality of Atherina balabacensis, Masbate, Ticao I., San Miguel harbor, USNM 136802 (neotype) (Ref. 121273). Adult, juvenile, and larvae specimens were caught by light-fishing off El Nido (Ref. 10558). Reported from Balabac, Samar, Cebu, Siquijor, Mindanao, Palawan, Culion, and Samal Is. (Ref. 9760); and Taal Lake (Ref. 12165, 13446). Also Ref. 1602, 37816.
