Most important commercial species of mackerel, caught the year round with native purse seines (italakop) and fish corrals (ibaklad) in Manila Bay and by dynamiting (Ref. 9684). Larval stages of this species are included in the 'dulong' catches from a study area in Calatagan, Batangas (Ref. 107093). Recorded from Estancia, Iloilo (Ref. 115926).
