Comments:
A Lessepsian migrant. Early observations of the species in the Mediterranean include a photograph in October 1999 from Amchit area and in Saida fish market in April 2000 by M. Bariche (Ref. 113702). Samples from this recent Lessepsian migrant show high genetic diversity as opposed to Fistularia commersonii, another recent invader. Results of the study show that genetic diversity alone is a poor predictor of invasion success (Ref. 113642).
