Type locality, inside Sokodo fishing port, Hachijo-jima Island, Izu Islands,
off Pacific coast of central Honshu Island, KPM-NI 9613 (holotype of Enneapterygius senoui, 2.72 cm SL, male). Known from the east coast of Izu Peninsula (Izu Oceanic Park, Futo, Ito), the Izu (Hachijo-jima Island and Izu-oshima Island), and Ogasawara Islands (Chichi-jima Island) (Ref. 78435).
