Locally introduced (Ref. 59043, 94493) and recently recorded in northern and central Italy waters where it is reported to be expanding (Ref. 45688). It could be a threat to the survival of the endemic species Barbus tyberinus (Bianco, 1995). Collected with B. graellsii in the low reaches of the rivers. Most were medium sized specimens without signs of spawning, and were introduced probably during one of the more recent stockings (Ref. 45688). Recorded from Ombrone, Albegna and Fiora rivers. Frequently stocked (Ref. 45688). Also Ref. 13686.
