Type locality of Opistognathus castelnaui Bulukomba, Makassar, Sulawesi (Ref. 128653). Reporterd from Bali Strait to Timor Sea. Museum: NTM S.10762-001 (TGT1022). Species in Ref 48637 is a misidentification of O. cyanospilotus (Ref. 81517). Also Ref. 5978, 90102.
