Comments:
Known only from Lake Sentani in Irian Jaya. Last collections were obtained in 1954. Since that time populations of introduced fishes(Cyprinus, Gambusia, Clarias, etc.) have greatly increased and lake waters have suffered from man-made pollution. Not anymore found during the 1982 visit to Lake Sentani. The presence of this species in the aquarium trade is doubtful and there are fears that it may already be extinct.
