Reported from Hoi Ha Wan (Ref. 119713), Cape D'Aguilar (Ref. 124789), and Tai Tam Bay (Ref. 125338). Also reported from Starfish Bay, Kei Ling Ha Lo Wai, Wong Chuk Wan, Sha Ha and Nam Wai (Ref. 125515). The species was observed on 2 to 10 occasions during 400 dive surveys on artificial reefs (Ref. 119494). Widespread in brackish waters. Small individuals can be found in fresh water. Reported from Tai Ho and Sup Long streams in Lantau Island (Ref. 129476). Sold in live fish markets (Ref. 125552). Also Ref. 94637, 12087, 125536, 126271.
