Reported from Sharp Island (Ref. 94637); Tung Ping Chau (Ref. 125586); Grass Island (Ref. 128523); and Cape D'Aguilar (Ref. 129329). Juveniles were also reported from Starfish Bay (Ref. 125536). The species was observed on 11 to 100 occasions during 400 dive surveys on artificial reefs (Ref. 119494). In 1968, it was one of the most abundant in Hong Kong waters. It is also one of the most popular species cultured in this country (Ref. 12092). Sold in live fish markets (Ref. 125552).
