Found in Australes, Gambier, Tuamotu and Society Islands (Ref. 48622). Found in the Rapa Islands (Ref. 6784), Tahiti (Ref. 12754, 12790), Moorea, Rurutu, Tubuaï, Mangareva and Rangiroa (Ref. 12790). In high islands, it is usually restricted to lower freshwater reaches and to estuaries (Ref. 12790). Inhabits both running and stagnant waters (Ref. 12790). Occurs in running waters within a range of 0-20 m altitude (Ref. 12751). Also Ref. 6784, 12792, 12754.
