Comments: The only documented specimens originate from the Djim, a small tributary of the Mbam which enters the Sanaga downstream from the Nachtingal Falls (Ref. 81642). Type locality of the holotype of Platyglanis depierrei: 'Djim (affluent du Mbam lequel se jette dans le Sanaga en aval des chutes Nachtigal) aux environs du pont franchissant la rivière sur la piste qui mène de Nguila à Ngorro' (Ref. 115782). Also Ref. 3236, 51193, 94168, 115782.

Etymology: Notoglanidium: Greek, noton = back + Greek, glanis = a fish that can eat the bait without touching the hook; a cat fish; diminutive (Ref. 45335);  depierrei: Named in honour of D. Depierre, collector of the type specimens (Ref. 94168).
