| Yolk-sac larvae with transparent head and body, presence of melanophores in eyes. Yolk-sac is large (49-53% of BL), pear-shaped, and is located along venter of the head and body from snout to tip to just before the anus. Yolk completely absorbed during flexion. Finfold number is relatively low, depth is almost the same dorsally and ventrally. Finfold notches at tail present ventrally just after hatching, appearing dorsally in preflexion larvae. Mouth, gill opening, and nostrils forming in preflexion larvae. Gas bladder visible in preflexion larvae. Myomeres V-shaped in newly hatched larvae, becoming W-shaped in postflexion stage. | ||||
