Comments: Spawning is by direct pairing and occurs both in rivers and ponds. Flooding is not essential to stimulate spawning activity as with other eleotrids. Eggs are laid in a single cluster on a solid substrate - often very close to the surface on the underside of floating vegetation (Ref. 7276).
