Comments: The female exudes an egg mass, containing 12 - 40 ova (each 2.5 - 3 mm in diameter), which the male takes into his mouth. The male incubates the eggs for 2-3 weeks. Newly hatched embryos are about 6 mm long and remain in the male's mouth for 6 - 10 days. Spawning cycles assumed to be more than 1 per year (RF).
