Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 4 - 28; depth range 0 - 2 m, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Indian subcontinent and Myanmar.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found in quiet, shallow (0.5-1.5 m), often muddy water, in sandy streams, rivers and tanks (Ref. 6028). Also occur in canals, beels and inundated fields (Ref. 1479). Feed on vegetable matter and fish (Ref. 6028).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Occurs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Ref. 40982), Indus and Haro rivers (Ref. 41033). Known from North West Frontier Province (Ref. 52665). Also found in Punjab and Sindh (Ref. 51161). Also Ref. 4833, 12076, 41236, 43640.
