Max. size:  45 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 6 - 8; dH range: 4 - 28; depth range 0 - 2 m, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Indian subcontinent and Myanmar.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are found in quiet, shallow (0.5-1.5 m), often muddy water, in sandy streams, rivers and tanks (Ref. 6028). Also occur in canals, beels and inundated fields (Ref. 1479). Feed on vegetable matter and fish (Ref. 6028).
