Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Labeoninae
Max. size:  20.8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and upper Myanmar (Ref. 4832). Also reported from Afghanistan (Ref. 39701), Bhutan (Ref. 40882) and Nepal (Ref. 9496).
Biology:  Adults inhabit streams and lakes (Ref. 4832). Feed on algae, plants and detritus (Ref. 42699).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 07 October 2009 Ref. (124695)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from Baluchistan, Punjab and North-West Frontier Province, Sindh and Azad Kashmir (Ref. 51161, 52665); also in the Indus river (Ref. 41033). Also Ref. 4832, 41236.
