Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 380 - 600 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 5-5; Anal soft rays: 4-4. This species is distinguished by the following characters: with a simple, long, laterally compressed, posterior escal appendage; a relatively short illicium; subopercle short and broad, ventral margin nearly circular; escal appendage morphology with anterior appendage internally pigmented, a pair of unbranched, anterolateral appendages, the terminal papilla with a single distal spot of pigment, and a pair of fleshy, stout, medial appendages, each divided distally into two or three (on each side) short, slender filaments (Ref. 116652).
