Max. size:  23 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range 445 - 930 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Madagascar to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Anal soft rays: 27-28. This species is distinguished by the following characters: head length 2.7-3.2 (usually 2.9-3.0) in SL; mouth cavity uniformly black and snout shorter than orbit; D rayed pterygiophore pattern /1/1/1/1/1+1/1+1/1/; A 27-28 rays; developed gill rakers on first arch 14-16; pseudobranch moderate (20-23 elements); fins are pale (Ref. 122569).
