Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 4500 - 5387 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: north of the Bahama Isl. and off Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 97-97; Anal soft rays: 73-80; Vertebrae: 62-62. This species is distinguished by the following characters: D 97; A 73-80 rays; total vertebrae 62 (13-14 + 48-49); head squamation extensive on opercle, preopercle and occiput, 25 scales transversely across trunk above the anal-fin origin; bluish eyes large (15-19% HL), no lens; otolith elongate (OL:OH = 1.62), the inner and outer faces are equally convex (Ref. 126178).
