soft rays: 7. Body color in alcohol uniformly light yellowish brown. Oblique rows of scales on cheek 6; scales extending dorsally on head to nostrils; maxilla and ventral part of head naked. Scales moderately ctenoid. Posterior , margin of preopercle serrate, the ventral margin with 2 antrorse spines; a few serrae on subopercle and interopercle. Eye large, 3.35 in head. Third dorsal spine longest, 2.15 in head (Ref. 26833).
