Can be diagnosed from other species by having the following characters: upper and lower body profiles without pronounced angles, upper anterior profile almost straight; scales with shallow posterior ridge bearing sharp short ctenias; head length 2.6-2.7 in SL; mouth slit subvertical; lips narrow; descending part of praemaxillare straight; orbit diameter 2.4-2.7 times in HL; gill rakers 20-23; dorsal-fin rays VIII 30-32; anal-fin rays III 29-31 (Ref. 78445). |
