Comments: | Also introduced from Laos in 1982. Reintroduced in 1984. Introduction of rohu (Indian major carp) caused significant changes in diversifying number of cultured fish species in Vietnam. Rohu is one of the fast growing and highly fecund species cultured popularly in India and in many other Asian countries. After some years of transplantation and acclimatization, this exotic fish species has become an important cultured fish species in Vietnam. Annually, rohu contributes around 10-15% total fresh water fish production from aquaculture in Vietnam. Rohu fetches high price and good income for the fish farmers. Present in Da River (Ref. 90167, 89724). Also Ref. 74657. Ref: FAO, 1997 |
