Occurs in Chilka Lake (Ref. 29108); Maharashtra (Ref. 43634); Meenachil, Manimala & Pampa rivers, Kerala (Ref. 44311), Tambraparani river system, Peechi-Vazhani WLS, Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, southern Keral river systems and rivers of Tamil Nadu (Ref. 92228). Found throughout Tripura (Ref. 97593). Introduced into Peninsular India (Ref. 41236). Present in Nainital, Bhimtal and Naukuchiatal lakes (Ref. 89721), also in Adma and Jayanti rivers (Ref. 89719).
