Found in the Mekong, Chao Phraya, Maeklong, Peninsular and Southeast Thailand river systems (Ref. 26336); also from Nakhon Sawan, Khon Kaen, Songkhla and Phitsanulok (Ref. 37773). Generally occurs in rivers, canals and swamps. Consumed as food (Ref. 6459). In Thailand, this fish is considered to be better and more nourishing than Clarias batrachus and thought wrongly as female of Clarias batrachus (Ref 2686). Also Ref. 1632, 9648, 37772, 57235.
