Ranges from the Bering Sea to southeastern Alaska (Ref. 11366). In 1907, this species was reported as abundant along the Alaskan coasts at least as far north as the Aleutian Is. and was also observed to have been used as bait for Sebastodes melanops (Ref. 11366).
