Type locality of the holotype of Barbus truttiformis: 'Wanzaie (locality 30), Gumara River, tributary of Lake Tana, Ethiopia' (Ref. 35835). Known only from Lake Tana and its tributaries (Ref. 31686, 35835, 96382, 128753), part of he Abay basin (Ref. 58460).
