This species is possibly endemic to Sri Lanka (Ref. 6028). Its occurrence in India needs further confirmation. Reported from Godavary and Krishna river systems to as far south as the tip of Peninsular India (Ref. 41236); recorded from Kalakkad, Tirunelveli and Kerala (Ref. 43640); Chittar River basin, Tamil Nadu (Ref. 44312).
